Lost in the Zone (LITZ) is the ultimate wizard mode in Twilight Zone pinball that requires significant effort to achieve.

Here’s how it works:

Requirements

To reach Lost in the Zone, you must:

  • Collect all 14 door panels located around the central door artwork on the playfield
  • The door panels can be collected through:
    • Shooting the Slot Machine when lit (awards random panel)
    • Shooting the Player Piano when lit (awards currently flashing panel)
    • Defeating the Power in the mini-playfield

Starting the Mode

Once all panels are collected:

  • The doorknob (with question mark) becomes lit
  • The mode can be initiated by:
    • Shooting the Player Piano
    • Shooting the Slot Machine
    • Winning a Battle the Power round

Gameplay Features

When Lost in the Zone activates:

  • It’s a 6-ball multiball mode (including the ceramic Powerball)
  • Players get approximately 45 seconds to score as many points as possible
  • Lost balls are automatically returned to play
  • Multiple scoring modes are simultaneously active:
    • Clock Millions
      • Activated at the center Clock Millions target
      • Score value corresponds to the current hour shown on the clock
      • Highly dangerous shot due to center target location
    • Town Square Madness
      • All playfield switches award points
      • Pop bumpers increase the value of each target hit
      • Creates a “switch frenzy” scoring opportunity
    • Greed
      • Lights all 5 Million targets for a brief period
      • Can generate substantial points when multiple targets are hit
    • Super Slot
    • Dead End
    • Battle the Power
    • Odd Change

Aftermath

When time expires:

  • All flippers and targets deactivate
  • Balls are allowed to drain
  • Total score is tallied
  • The Gumball Machine refills with balls
  • Normal gameplay resumes with all door panels unlit
  • If you beat the highest recorded LITZ score, you can enter initials as “Lost in the Zone Champion”

Lost in the Zone is considered the single most point-rich mode on the table, though it requires significant time and skill to achieve
